🌺TENDING YOUR SOUL GARDEN🌺
8 Simple Ways to Help Your Spirit Grow and Bloom
I love the immediate gratification of a potted bulb garden. I mean the flowers themselves take a while to show up, but if you follow the simple growing instructions tucked into the box, those tender little shoots will start turning green and climbing skyward.
And that starts happening immediately. I’m talking same day here.
I took the protective covering off the lovely pot you see here just this morning. (A birthday gift from my brother Ed and sis-in-law Marilyn, thanks, guys!) I gave it a 30-minute soak just like the instruction card told me to. I placed it in a cool spot with the right amount of sun. And this evening, as I write this — mere hours later — there is visible progress on the part of my little bulb babies. I’m so proud of them.
If only we had simple instructions to follow that would practically guarantee our heart’s desires would stir and sprout and grow and blossom, am I right?
Oh wait, I have some for you! 👩🏼🌾 Today, I give you Moxie’s equivalent of the growing instructions card for your own Soul Garden.
And by the way: If you were to really take on these 8 practices, you would find yourself growing like CRAZY.
I’M TALKING IDEAS AND DESIRES BUBBLING UP…
YOU REACHING FOR THE SKY IN A GLORIOUS GIMME-GIMME GESTURE OF LOVE AND JOY…
TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF HERE AND THERE…
NEW BUDS SHOWING UP AND EXPRESSING THEMSELVES…
GORGEOUS FLOWERS UNFURLING AND CREATING BEAUTY IN THE WORLD.
Who doesn’t want that?
READY? HERE WE GO:
8 Simple Ways to Help Your Spirit Grow and Bloom
1. CREATING INNER HARMONY.
Fear-based thinking distorts our view of the world and creates its own reality. Recognize, shift, let go. There are facets of your shadow that are waiting for your integration, support and understanding so you are freed up to be your shiniest Self.
2. PRACTICING RADICAL SELF-REVERENCE.
Learn to spend time nurturing yourself, which includes getting creative about new ways to do that. When you learn to value your Self at a new level, you will also value the contribution you represent and the fact that you are a unique and beautiful phenomenon.
3. ROMANCING THE MUSE.
That brain of yours is so used to being a work horse — do this! do that! figure it out! — it can forget how to relax and allow for exploration and play. When you connect with your own intuition and listen for that inner voice of wisdom, you’ll find brand new thoughts popping up!
4. GRANTING OURSELVES PERMISSION.
When is it my time, we often ask ourselves. Well guess what? It’s time to answer that very valid question with this answer: NOW. Your time is now. And that includes time to imagine and plant and tend to that Soul Garden of yours.
5. NAMING OUR DESIRES.
What does your Soul want? What are the dreams or new creative sparks that want some oxygen so they can be expressed in your life? To name them is to give yourself power. To speak them to chosen others is to give yourself the gift of love and support.
6. MAKING SACRED PROMISES.
This is where you get to make delicious choices, choose where to focus your gorgeous energy and love. And when I say sacred promise, I’m talking a vow of love, not an item for your gotta-do list. This is, like getting married, the creation of something new and precious.
7. TAKING SOULFUL ACTION.
It’s time to set the sparks of your dreams in motion! We don’t want to get mired in the mud of the mind, it’s time for moving and reaching for the sun. You’ve got to bravely poke your head above the surface for the rest of the beautiful process to happen.
8. GIVING GRACE TO OUR EVOLVING SELVES.
Despite how stuck we can feel, we are never staying the same, we’re either expanding or contracting. Sometimes we have periods of quiet hibernation. Other times we have bloomed wildly and need to cut back here and there before we bloom again. It’s a process to be embraced and appreciated.
By the way, I said these were simple—but they’re not always easy. When the elements seem to be conspiring against you (not enough sun! too much sun! too much rain! not enough rain!) it can be hard to know how to get past gardener’s despair and discouragement.
And don’t we all have our moments of despair and discouragement, those periods when growth seems like a stupid idea? 😬 (This can result in whiling away many an hour scrolling through pics of other people’s pets, skin ailments and lunches. Or so I’ve heard.)
The good news is, there are skills you can learn. There are tools. There are fun, cool ways to incorporate these simple practices in your life and absolutely love tending that Soul Garden of yours.
I INVITE YOU TO TRY OUT SOME NEW WAYS TO SET NEW INTENTIONS, RELEASE WHAT HOLDS YOU BACK, HONOR AND CELEBRATE YOUR DREAMS, AND BE REMINDED OF THE GRACE AND DIVINE SPARK THAT LIVES INSIDE YOUR FABULOUS, ONE-OF-A-KIND SELF.
Would you like more ideas about how to play with these? Good news! In future blog posts, I’ll be digging into these practices and sharing specific tips and ideas with you.
