TOO MANY OPTIONS?
Here’s a way to give up the white-knuckle approach and embrace reinvention
It's a funny thing, having options.
Have you noticed?
When we feel like we don't have options, we can get a little frustrated and disempowered.
YET WHEN WE SUDDENLY REALIZE WE HAVE MANY, MANY OPTIONS, WE CAN GET OVERWHELMED AND ALL DEER-IN-HEADLIGHTS ABOUT LIFE.
Which doesn't feel good. I mean think about it -- a deer in headlights is standing there staring at an oncoming car that's zooming toward it. Yikes!
So when we’re all deer-in-headlights and paralyzed about making a choice and committing to a direction, the future we’re living into is getting hit by life—and hit hard—if we get it wrong.
A lot of women I talk to these days are dealing with having so many options, so little prescribed direction, that they can flit from idea to idea and never really settle into one. It's FOMO on steroids. And ultimately unsatisfying.
”What if I make the wrong choice? Is this the right way for me to go? How do I know the thing I SHOULD be doing with my one wild and precious life?”
DOES ANY OF THAT SOUND FAMILIAR?
When I was taking a walk this morning I was thinking about having so many ideas/options/passions/possibilities/choices you find yourself a little stuck as you stand in front of that blank canvas.
HERE'S A WAY TO THINK ABOUT TAKING A NEW PATH THAT WILL ZAP THAT WORRY AND HAVE YOU FEELING LIKE THE FABULOUS CREATURE YOU REALLY ARE:
Do you ever grapple with what feels like too many options?
Have you ever felt so daunted by making a choice that you just avoided making one?
And what’s it been like to just choose and fully give yourself to your choice?
