AUTHOR BRANDS AND WEBSITES
You’re already an author. It’s time the world saw it.
You’ve given this book your mornings, your courage and more than a little money. Then someone asks for your website, and you hesitate.
I create author brands and websites that start where your book did, with your story, so the first thing a reader, an agent or a bookstore sees is unmistakably you.
SOUND FAMILIAR?
The book is real. You’re real. Your website hasn’t caught up.
You still say you’re “doing some writing,” when the truth is you’re an author.
When someone asks for your website, you change the subject, or send them somewhere you’d rather they didn’t look.
What you most believe about why you write isn’t anywhere a reader could find it.
Agents, editors, bookstores and readers are going to look you up. Let what they find feel like you on your best day.
HOW I WORK
It starts with a conversation.
1. Two conversations.
A short questionnaire, then two recorded sessions, just the two of us. The first is your story: who you are, why you write, the life that shaped the work. The second is your readers and your place on the shelf: who you write for, the authors you’d sit beside, and how you want people to feel when they find you.
2. I write.
Your pages, in your voice, from your own words. You approve every line.
3. I design your brand.
Colors, type and imagery that fit you and your books, then a Squarespace site built in that look, with two rounds of revisions.
4. You take the keys.
A walkthrough and short how-to videos, so updating your events, books and news takes minutes.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE
“Love is for any age, not just the young.”
When novelist Deborah Smith Cook asked me about a website, the best line on her old site was hiding at the bottom of her bio page. It’s now the front door of her author home, where it tells every reader what her Rehoboth Beach novels are about before they read a word of the books.

Everything in The Story Session
A second session on your readers and your place on the shelf: who you write for, the authors you’d sit beside, and how you want people to feel when they find you. Your brand’s look and voice start here.
Every page your story needs, up to ten, chosen for where you are now. Most writers start with Home, About, Books (or your book in progress), Newsletter and Contact, then add pages such as Events, Blog, Press, or pages drawn from your world: your message, your reader community, a page for bookstores and book clubs. All of it written for you.
Your newsletter sign-up, built into your site. No newsletter yet? You open an account with a newsletter service (I’ll show you how; it takes five minutes), and I’ll add your sign-up form, build a simple template in your look, and write the welcome email new readers receive, so your list starts growing on day one.
Your brand at a glance: your colors, fonts and words on one page, so everything you make matches your site
A photo guide for you and a one-page brief for your photographer
Your publicity starter list: ideas made for you, from story angles to what to capture at your events, drawn from my years in PR
Short how-to videos, and 60 days of support after your site is finished
About 7 to 9 weeks. Half to begin, half when your site is finished. You own everything: your account, your domain, your words.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
I’m Deb Beroset. I help what’s alive in you take form.
My work happens on two levels. The first is identity: who you’re becoming, and what’s true about you that’s ready to be seen. The second is form: turning that into something real that people can find, read and hold. I know what it takes for an idea to move from private signal to public form. And I know the strange distance between what someone senses and what she’s willing to say out loud.
I’ve done this my whole working life. For two decades as a magazine writer, where profiles of people who weren’t celebrities were my favorite assignments. At Hallmark, leading the company’s internal think tank. As a global director of PR. And for the last ten years through It’s Time For Moxie, helping women hear what’s trying to come alive in them and make the next honest move. For some of them, I’ve built the brands and websites that carry their work into the world.
I’m writing a book of my own, so I know the moment you’re in: the work is real, and saying “I’m an author” out loud still takes a breath.
With me, you get a brand strategist, a writer and a builder in one person, so nothing gets lost between your story, your look and your pages.
Two decades writing for national magazines
Led Hallmark’s internal think tank and served as Editorial Director in New Ventures
Twelve years as a global director of PR
Ten years of brand and website projects through It’s Time For Moxie
Built my first website in 1995, and more than fifteen since
QUESTIONS
What writers ask me.
My book isn’t out yet. Is it too soon?
No. A site before your book gives agents and editors somewhere to find you, starts your newsletter list, and means your launch begins with readers already waiting.
Can I really update it myself?
Yes. Your site is on Squarespace, and you’ll have a walkthrough, how-to videos and 60 days of support after it’s finished.
What do I need to bring?
Time for two conversations, your book details and good photos. If you need new photos, my guide tells you exactly what to ask a photographer for.
I already have a blog. Will you move it?
Yes. Moving up to five of your existing posts is included, and your blog counts as one of your ten pages. A larger blog gets a quote once I see where it lives now, since some can be imported and some have to be moved by hand.
Who owns the site?
You do. When your site is finished and your final payment is in, I transfer it to your own Squarespace account. Your site, your domain and your words are yours.
Do you handle publicity or write my newsletters?
I don’t run publicity campaigns or write your newsletters. But I spent twelve years in PR, so The Full Story includes a starter list of publicity ideas made for you, and the press kit gives you or a publicist everything needed to pitch.
LET’S TALK
Tell me about your book.
Where are you with it, and what do you want readers to feel when they find you? Send me a note, and I’ll set up a time to talk.
